Customer Testimonials

Donald Rush : March 24th, 2011

Have you ever searched for a restaurant online? Would you say your more  likely to visit the restaurant that has the most positive reviews? All things being equal. They have a good menu. The appearance of everything is ok. It is a convenient location. I think we would agree that if you have to choose you would go with the restaurant with the most reviews. These restaurants probably have 1000′s of customers visit them. However the review sites may have at most 20 reviews. Can you imagine if you where looking at reviews and the average was 5-15 reviews and then one with 200. WOW I think I would have to visit the place with 200 reviews.

To achieve something like this the restaurant would have to focus on encouraging happy customers to leave reviews. With the high use of smart phones today there is a good chance customers could leave a review while enjoying a cup of complimentary coffee for doing so.

So what about your business. Have you ever looked to see how many reviews you have? Do you care? Should you care? If you had more reviews than your competitors and they where good reviews do you think it would affect your business? I think it would be worth a try.

Ups store Box and Google places or maps

Donald Rush : September 17th, 2010

ups store box and Google places

You may have heard that you can use a UPS store box as a physical address. Well it is true you can. You can receive mail from the USPS, Fedex, UPS, and everyone else in the world that would want to send you a package. However the thing that you can not do with this “Physical Address” is put on Google maps or places as a business location.

This was a common practice for sometime. Especially for business that serviced an area that they where not physically located. By creating a Google local listing using the UPS store box as a physical  address you could achieve a high rank on local searches.

I am here to tell you that this is no longer an option. I have observed how Google is cracking down on this once acceptable practice. Not only is Google watching this ,but your competition is watching. It only makes sense that a local business would rat out a business trying to fake a local listing. While I’m sure many have used this in the past it would be best if you discontinued this practice.

The results of continuing could result in your listing as well as your website being penalized by Google even banned. The best thing to do would be to remove the listing or change the address to an actual physical address before you are penalized. Cleaning up the mess of a Google penalization is not a hobby the most will welcome.

User Beware. Google Local Listing Services

Donald : August 17th, 2010

Today I received a phone call from a very nice gentleman who informed me about a service he provided. He created google local listings for clients as well as maintained them. His setup fee of $250 plus a $89 per month maintenance fee. I didn’t have time to go very deep on this but I am getting a lot of calls about this and online advertising. Many are scams. Some are legitimate. My goal is to find out which services are worth your time and which are not. If you have experience with any of these groups please leave a comment below.
